This was precisely the scenario we faced with one client who was looking for an elegant solution to an often awkward situation that affected the comfort and productivity of their team.
The client needed an adjustable keyboard tray for a shared workstation in a clean room that could be easily adjusted without tools so that every person, no matter how tall or short they were, could work comfortably at the workstation.
Our engineers ultimately came up with a solution that used a similar mechanism that we had recently used for an adjustable stool. This approach allowed the workstation shelf to remain as much as possible as a single unit – which minimized the risk of malfunction or accidents. One swift motion was all that was needed to raise or lower the shelf.
This innovative solution wasn’t the result of a flash of inspiration or a “Eureka” moment. Instead, our engineers worked through similar projects they had completed in the past, sketched out their ideas, and presented them to the client. They collaborated with the client to ultimately come up with the best possible solution.
